Finland’s parliament voted to lift a decades-old nuclear weapons ban. This shifts defense policy to align with NATO. Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen called it a “historic reform”. Finland joined NATO in 2023 after Russia’s invasion. 125 deputies backed the bill, 61 opposed. Opponents fear tensions rise. Russia criticized the move, saying it increases vulnerability. The bill now goes to the president.
